DLI Pilot Program Information
January Update - January 8, 2020
In addition to the critical priorities of building relationships with your children and the Parkview staff, we will be reengaging in the evaluation of the Dual Language Immersion pilot program and its impact on all students. As a district, we believe in reflective practice and sincerely appreciate the multiple perspectives that have been shared with us.
To that end, we want to ensure the school community understands the following process that will be utilized:
- A survey will be sent out to all Parkview families to gather further input on the DLI program.
- We will work with the school leadership team and Dual Language specialists to review data and analyze the established concerns for the program.
- Once the school leadership team has completed their review, the district Bilingual advisory (comprised of teachers, parents, and community members) will reconvene and add to the discussion.
- Last, a determination on the status of the program will be made after careful review and dialogue. Please understand that this outcome could include the extension, modification, or discontinuation of the program. We intend to have a status update by late spring.
We thank you for the strong start to the new year. We are committed to moving forward in a positive manner and will continue to do what is best for our students.

What is the district Bilingual Advisory?
The district Bilingual Advisory was created prior to the implementation of the program. The purpose of the Bilingual Advisory was to engage in a dialogue surrounding the benefits of incorporating such a pilot program as Dual Language Immersion.
The advisory is comprised of teachers, parents, community members, and field experts. Advisory members have experience in elementary, middle school, high school, and university levels. Members of the original advisory will be invited to reconvene. Four new positions will be added to include parents with differing perspectives, two in favor of and two not in favor of the program.
